        Paying for college

        Scholarships

The Big Bend Community College 2020-21?online scholarship application?IS CURRENTLY OPEN and will be close March 13, 2020. Current and future students can apply to all internal BBCC scholarships with a single application through our AwardSpring online system.

There are five (6) sections to the application: General Information, Qualification Questions, Transcripts, Recommendations, Essay Questions, and Feedback. You will need to complete each section to submit your application. In addition to questions and essays, a completed application will include an unofficial electronic transcript(s) and two recommendations. More details on how to complete these tasks can be found within the application. This application is for BBCC scholarships and does not include external scholarships.

        Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts are required for ALL applicants. You must upload your most recent transcript(s) into the application (the AwardSpring platform accepts common file extensions). Check your file before you complete your application, any transcript files that cannot be viewed will receive a zero score.

Current BBCC Students?can access their unofficial transcript through the?student kiosk. Copy and paste the transcript data thoroughly into a Word document and upload the file. Current BBCC students should also upload their high school transcripts if they have only a few classes recorded on their BBCC transcripts.

High School students?must upload a transcript that includes all coursework/grades at the time you apply. If your school uses Parchment (eTranscripts), we?highly encourage?you to request your transcripts early to avoid electronic delays.

Students with?a GED, who have been homeschooled, or who have no transcripts, please provide proof of your GED completion. If you have no documentation, write a detailed letter explaining your circumstances for not having any documentation and upload the letter in place of the transcript.

        Recommendations

We require?two?(2)?completed?recommendations?for an application to be considered complete. ?Please note that?sending a recommendation request is?NOT?the same as having a completed recommendation.? Letters of recommendation are requested via the scholarship application and will generate an email to the recommender providing them instructions and a link to upload their recommendation directly into your application.

We encourage you to double-check the email information you enter – if the address is incorrect you will not receive a notice. Follow up with your recommender to ensure that your request is both received and submitted. You are responsible for checking the status of your recommendations to make sure that your application is complete.?

You can ask up to four (4) people to complete a recommendation on your behalf.?Recommendations from family members and letters dated before May 1, 2019, will?not?be accepted.?

If you have questions regarding the recommendation process, or if you have a physical letter of recommendation that you would like to upload, please contact Foundation staff for assistance.
